Me time.

August 3rd, 2008 by Myisha

I had a full day of enjoyment….and guess who I spent it with? Myself.  Some people don’t like to be alone or even know how, but I thoroughly enjoy it.  There aren’t many moments when I actually don’t have to hear “mom” or “babe” all day long, so when I can get my moment of silence…I take it!  It may seem a bit selfish but it’s honest.  I love my family more than anything in the world, but I have to take care of me every once in a while to be able to take care of them. So here is how I started my day.

First I went to Targe’…or Target. Once inside I went straight to the Starbucks counter and ordered a Grande coffee with Cinnamon dulce syrup (5 pumps please), and  then walked around with my red shopping cart for about an hour and a half.  Miraculously I got out of Target without spending over $50 (I spent $48), which is unheard of.  Then I stopped by Chick-fil-A and grabbed a bite…which I ate in the car while reading the latest issue of Lucky Magazine…all while parked in JoAnn’s craft store parking lot :-) …I’m having a blast at this point..I’m so serious too! Anyway :-)   I perused JoAnn’s for a new project…made a purchase…then headed out.  I thought about stopping for a Mani/Pedi but wanted to hit up Borders bookstore.  Went to Borders for a bit and then headed to See’s candy and picked up CHOCOLATE…Yay!  Note: Do not drive while eating chocolate. It’s Dangerous!  I stained my dress that I’d had for a while, but was my first time wearing :-(  Oh well, what’s a girl to do?  So then I went on home, but I only stayed for a couple of hours and watched 2 episodes of Project Runway before I decided to go see a movie.  Umm, Travelin’ Pants 2 had not started yet, so I decided to go and check out Mama Mia….the 9:40pm show.  I got to the show and purchased my $6.00 ticket (yup, we have one of those discount theatres by my house. The seats aren’t plush and don’t recline and the floor is a little sticky but once the movie starts you forget all about it).  Anyway, I bought my ticket, got a kids pack (don’t act like you don’t know what the kids pack is) for $5.00 which includes popcorn, soda, and a candy treat!  Woohoo, for once I felt like I was robbing the theatre.  I loaded my popcorn with this free cheddar cheese seasoning they offer, and into the movie theatre I went.  The movie was very entertaining, funny, cute, and pretty much “feel good”.  It was a perfect end to my perfect day!

Do you ever grab any  guiltless”me” time?  If not I highly recommend it. It’s great for stress relief, to regain/maintain mindfullness, or just to have a fun day out, doing the stuff you love to do, and not worrying about whether it’s pleasing anyone else.
